This is one of the longest passion projects I’ve worked on, and it is among the work I am most proud of. This is an example of mixing engineering and design. I always wanted to make a functional robot of my own, and this is my first step. This is the project that really taught me that it is important to come up with functionality first and then design the product. With my first prototype, I cared about the design so much that it just added unnecessary weight which is thoroughly explained in one of the slides in my portfolio. So the more prototypes I made, the more practical I tried to make it. This project is more about functionality than design, but I believe that my design ability actually made this mechanical hand functional. Through this project, I was able to see the relationship between engineering and design.
